Mollusca - Mollusca is one of the largest phylums as it classifies around 47,000 different species. All animals of the phylum Mollusca have soft bodies that are covered by hard protective shells. The course of evolution however has cause some animals of Mollusca to lose their shells such as squids.
Squid - Squids have a sophisticated nervous system. They have a large brain in proportion to its body. Due to this relatively large brain they are considered one of the most intelligent invertebrate. Most invertebrates do not even have a full brain like the Squid do.
Snail - has no hearing, central nervous system consist of ganglia connected by nerve cells. The nervous system of gastropods includes the peripheral nervous system and the central nervous system. The central nervous system consist of ganglia connected by nerve cells. It includes paired ganglia: the cerebral ganglia, pedal ganglia, osphradial ganglia, pleural ganglia, parietal ganglia and the visceral ganglia. There are sometimes also buccal ganglia.
Clam - Clams have no brain, their nervous system consists of a nerve network and a series of paired ganglia. Like most Mollusca the ganglia is responsible for most of the nervous system. The nervous system is comprised of 3 pairs of ganglia (cerebral, visceral and pedal) each associated with the esophagus, muscles close to the shell, and foot.
